Working From Home in Style and Convenience

It appears the working from home scenario many of us adopted during the COVID pandemic may be here to stay in some regard going forwards - whether that be out of necessity or as a lifestyle choice. In either case, we can find ourselves examining our hastily set-up home offices to see how we might make them more attractive and productive. Our team at Lands have brainstormed a list below on how to revamp your home office.

Light: We suggest you make a bright, airy workspace for yourself to work in. When you're lacking inspiration or motivation, a gloomy and dark environment will make it much more difficult to be productive. Maximise the amount of natural light, steer clear of heavy or excessively patterned window treatments, and choose a minimalistic style.

Colour: While a neutral colour scheme encourages concentration, there are many benefits to adding some colour to your home office, especially if you don't have access to the "colour" that workplaces provide. A good compromise? Keep your window coverings, flooring, and walls neutral and add pops of colour with an eye-catching floor rug, a statement chair, motivational wall art, or indoor plants.

Indoor Plants: They not only bring the outside inside, create a tranquil, relaxing atmosphere, and look great, they also purify the air. It's essential to keep your home office clean. Consider Mother-in-law's Tongue, Fiddle Leaf Fig, Peace Lilies, and trailing plants such as Devil's Ivy or Chain of Hearts.

Backdrop: Any ineffective home office backdrop can be quickly changed into a lively one with even the tiniest intervention. Nowadays online meetings through Zoom and other video calling apps are more prevalent. Pick a colour, texture, and design that give your backdrop a polished and professional look.

Furniture: It goes without saying that your home office chair and desk are essential for productivity. While having visually beautiful items is important, it is also crucial to consider their ergonomic design and functionality. Comfort and size are important, whether you choose a typical desk with drawers and storage, a console table with thin metal legs, a wide workstation anchored to a wall or window sill, or another type of desk. The same applies with your chair. Choose the more useful, deep, broad chair with a range of height, back, and head adjustments. Strike a balance between comfort, functionality, and design if you can.
